WARM FORGING: This is the latest technology available where you can achieve near net shape finish and has the advantage of cold forging thru this technology you can save raw material and avoid many machinery processers which can help you reduce the cost of the products. During the last few years, warm forging has become a development need, especially as it leads to higher cost reductions by near net shape applications. Since warm forging has greater formability of heated materials, it also has greater accuracy.

Warm forging is defined as a process of plastically deforming a metal or an alloy such conditions of strain rate & temperature that the drawbacks of both cold working & hot working are greatly reduced & their advantages are combined together. The selection of the working temperature for warm forging is very important for achieving this aim & is based on the following factor:-

  • Yield or flow strength of the material
  • Ductility or formability of the material
  • Dimensional tolerances to near net shape of ratchet & pinions
